How to Add a Character Name and Server to an FFXIV Screenshot

The Signature panel adds a two-line text overlay to your screenshot. Use it for a character name, server, Free Company label, or a small creator mark without opening a separate image editor.

1. Open Signature settings

1. Upload at least one screenshot so you can judge the overlay against the real image.
2. Open Signature in the desktop inspector, or tap Signature in the mobile bottom navigation.
3. Expand Text. Use Logo Upload for image marks rather than typed text.

2. Enter the two text lines

1. Type the character name in Upper Text.
2. Type a server name or secondary label in Lower Text.
3. Each field accepts up to 30 characters. Short labels are easier to read and less likely to cover the image.
4. Check the canvas after each change; the overlay updates immediately.

3. Style each line

1. Use the Bold and Italic buttons in each text control independently.
2. A bold upper line and a regular lower line create a clear hierarchy, but you can choose any combination.
3. Adjust Spacing separately for each line. The range is -10px to 20px.

4. Position and align the signature

1. Choose one of the nine buttons under Position: corners, side centers, top or bottom center, or the center.
2. Choose Align Left, Align Center, or Align Right to control how the two lines sit relative to each other.
3. Avoid faces, hands, weapons, and important outfit details.
4. If the chosen color disappears into the image, move the signature first. Position is often a better fix than making the text huge.

5. Choose the font and size

1. Open the Font menu and compare the previews.
2. The default is Terrarum Sans bitmap, which gives the signature a compact pixel-style appearance.
3. Choose another font when its shape fits the screenshot, but confirm that both lines remain readable at the final size.
4. Use Size between 50% and 200%. Reduce the size for long names and increase it only when the image has enough empty space.

6. Set color and opacity

1. Open the Color control and choose a color with enough contrast against the image.
2. Dark text works well on bright areas; white or lighter text works better on dark areas.
3. Use Opacity between 0% and 100%. Start around 60–85% for a subtle watermark and increase it when the name must be immediately readable.

7. Configure the copyright overlay

1. Below the text controls, find Copyright overlay and use Show Copyright to display or hide the built-in notice.
2. The notice is supplied by the app and cannot be edited as free text. You can control only whether it appears, where it sits, and how it is colored.
3. Choose Copyright Position: Left, Center, or Right.
4. Choose Copyright Color: Black, White, or Gray, then check the contrast against the bottom of the image.

8. Export the finished signature

1. Inspect the text at a normal preview zoom and confirm that the first and last characters are visible.
2. If the copyright overlay is enabled, confirm that the fixed notice is visible and not lost against the background.
3. Click Save PNG on desktop.
4. On mobile, open Export and tap Save PNG.
5. If the signature competes with the subject, return to the panel and adjust position or opacity instead of adding more decoration.
